HISTORY OF AS9100
The AS9100 was established by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG), which consists of representatives from prime aviation, space, and defense OEMs in the Americas, Asia/Pacific and Europe to introduce initiatives that make significant improvements in quality and reductions in cost throughout the value stream. This was considered with the new AS9100:2009 Revision C.
AS9100 implemented into your processes will result in improved quality, schedule and cost performance, by reducing or eliminating organization-unique requirements and wider application of good practices. The application of AS9100 will provide value to aviation, space and defense industries and benefiting the organization that implements AS9100.
The AS9100 requirements is not limited to the aviation, space and defense industry, if fact many other industries can use the AS9100 standard where they require quality management system requirements (QMS) above and beyond what is required by ISO9001.
The newest version, AS9100:2009 Revison C or AS9100c was revised to incorporate the requirements of ISO9001:2008, industry requirements, new definitions and additional requirements as a result of stakeholder needs. Additional changes to the way your organization will be audited both internally and by the certification bodies. The new AS9101 checklist is primarily focused on process based audits and the evaluation of whether the process is effective or not. - Consulting During AS9100 Certification Audit K&S can provide AS9100 consultants to be present during the AS9100 certification. The consultant cannot be the auditee during the audit, but can guide your team through the audit.
